Prof. Goumnerova is a well-known pediatric neurosurgeon. She has special preferences towards pediatric CNS tumors, neuroendoscopy management of hydrocephalus and skull base surgery.
Prof. Goumnerova has a lot of publications that immensely enhanced pediatric neurosurgical oncology especially in the field of low grade gliomas, craniopharyngiomas, germinomas and brain stem gliomas. She published more than 120 articles which were cited more than 4700 times.
Prof. Goumnerova is interested in both the areas of basic science and clinical research in pediatric brain tumors. She is interested in the role of neurotrophin receptors and their role in medulloblastoma. Specifically, they are studying the role of trkC and other others in modifying biologic behavior of medulloblastoma.
